Been having an itch to get a Tesla recently. I'm really tempted to get a Model 3. Just need to do more research in insurance costs.

Anyone else thinking of getting one?

Mr. Money Bag there! wink

Would be nice but in our rural area...would be difficult. I have seen a charging station about 20 miles away...I always wondered if a smaller workplace would let you charge a car up at work without a fee.

You do know that you can charge at home?

Yes...range is the concern in farm country...220 miles is pretty far...my commute is about 60 miles but would nice to charge up while sitting at work...I do not even pass a gas station on my way home/work...but I do pass some Amish wagons (really).

I think they are sharp looking.

The base model 3 is $35,000. That's the one I'm looking at.

60 miles one way? Even if that was the case, that's only 120 miles. You would have 100 miles to spare.

I forgot where you lived..someplace like Michigan? Cold place I remember, but didn't think there was Amish up there.

Still running your old iMacs? Been awhile since I saw you post your set ups

SW Ohio..close to the border...lots of New Order Amish...all of it is fascinating to learn about.

Still using lots of old iMacs both at home in the outbuildings and at work for automated videos.

Old Mac Pro (2008) is running as a server now and currently using an upgraded CMP as my main unit.

SW Ohio? You are closer to me than I thought! Huh...always thought that you were way up north.

Interesting that you use them for automated videos...surprised the camera/software for video hasn't been updated past what the iMacs run.

I have a 2008 iMac and wondering what to use it for. Can't upgrade the OS and I really don't use a desktop anymore.

As far as Tesla goes, I found out about insurance (only goes up $96 every 6 months). Now to see how much CarMax would give for our Honda or my truck to see if there's a next step.

This was the one I was looking at

But insurance for them is crazy. $600 every 6 months on top of what I pay...yeah, doesn't look like I'll be getting one right away.

I saw a black one today at the grocery store....no doubt they are sharp. I am liking the Jeep Gladiator but wish they made a two-door version.

Moved back to OH in 2004....

Well, looks like insurance wasn't that big of a hit, $19/month extra! ]

Sold our Honda Accord and actually made money!
Picking up my Tesla Model 3 tomorrow!! Can't wait.

Holy cow, that is nice!

Great color choice too!

It will be great to hear about real experiences with one...they are very, very rare here.

Congratulations!

Thanks! This car is SOOO fun to drive. And being all electric, there's absolute NO hesitation when you step on the accelerator (got to remember it's not a GAS peda laugh )

Black is their stock color, it doesn't cost more. I like it myself. The regenerative braking is really cool.

And tonight I made my 90 year old dad smile and he had a good time when I left a rice burner honda in the dust laugh

Week and a half and this thing makes me smile every time I see it. A side benefit is that I'm more green than a lot of "green" people. No more fumes coming out of the tailpipe....oh wait, no tailpipe!

Once the truck is paid off, we'll trade that sucker in for either a Tesla truck (debuting this fall) or another model 3.

I even bought stock in Tesla the other day.

Apple has bored me, even with this new Mac Pro, I'm like..yeah, that's not for me. Tesla has excited me!

When you have some time, watch this. It'll blow you away!

Well, 2 months in and still loving it! Even Amy says that we made a great decision. I started the Tesla owners club of Kentucky. This is the car of the future.

We upgraded our car from the Standard Range to the Standard Range Plus, which means more range and autopilot...Talk about cool!

Cool. You should ride in one....you will like it even more. Though you are pretty tall, the model 3 might be ok, not sure.

If you ever want to ride in one, let me know and I will come up that way. :-)

This is growing on me as well. The midrange one, with all-wheel drive, seems to be a decent deal.

It will be interesting to see how the final version will look...mirrors, lightings (3rd brake light), and other street-legal things called for right now. I do not think the tires sticking out are legal either...but look neat. I have a 4x4 Chevy truck right now....

I looked that the home charger. Do you have the 60-amp one? Was it costly? I already have a300amp service maxed out so I would have to upgrade to 400amp.

Elon keeps hoping that side mirrors can be eliminated eventually. Cameras is what he wants to use, the rear view mirror on the truck uses a camera

This was a unveiling, so things like what you mention will be added. As for the final version, it won't change that much in design. If anything, it will be minor.

I have a 50amp solely for charging the Tesla. I had my neighbor install it (he's an electrician) so the price was cheap...a bottle of bourbon smile

I bought all the items needed, so that cost roughly $130 (the wiring was the most expensive part, $100 for it)

We went on exterior of house to make it quicker to install

That is a great and cost-effective way to get that done!

I thought this was a good size comparison between the truck and v3.

It is similar between my full-sized Chevy truck and Jeep Patriot though.

My truck will not fit in either one of my garages...wonder how long the Tesla truck is.

Don't know the length

Ha. Funny to see it called V3, that's the latest supercharger name.

This is a pretty neat article about one being seen in the wild;

If you have two Teslas charging, would you need another circuit installed? Can you just use a 110 to keep a charged up one ready?

I bought one Apple stock decades ago when they were really struggling...so I know the feeling!

You can use 110, but the charge speed is really slow. I donít know about having 2 circuits but i would imagine that they would split the speed. I plan on having 2 separate ones once I move into our new house

I bought 10 shares of Apple stock back when they split and at $90.

The Model Y would probably be something that would probably be up your alley...it's bigger than the 3 but same price.

Over a year later, almost 30K miles on it, and I still absolutely LOVE driving it.
