I’m tellin’ ya: the Trumpster has not only confirmed that he’ll run again, but if things don’t change dramatically, he’ll be reelected: “More than half of Americans don’t think Donald Trump is fit to serve as president, yet he has a clear path to winning reelection. If Trump isn’t removed from office and doesn’t lead the country into some form of global catastrophe, he could secure a second term simply by maintaining his current level of support with his political base.” (from WaPo) And, I don’t know if you noticed it yet in your neck o’ the woods, the RNC has amassed tons of $$ for the midterm election in 2018, so much in fact, that they’re already running almost daily TV advertisements in my greater neighborhood extolling the achievements of the Trumpster. They are also already attacking ‘weak’ Democrat candidates whom they hope to upset. “The influx of cash from Trump's base is helping the GOP amass a major advantage as the parties prepare to battle for control of Congress in the 2018 elections, with the Republican National Committee pulling in nearly twice as much money overall as its Democratic counterpart this year.”(Chicago Trib.)
And it seems that the more the ‘fake media’ attacks and/or ridicules the orange guy, the more his base rallies around him. All in all, things don’t look exactly rosy’ for 2018. And if the Repubs maintain their majorities in 2018’, forget about any ‘upsets’ in 2020!
Next year’s midterm electionon could become the most expensive ever!
“The Koch network plans to spend between $300 million to $400 million on policy and political campaigns during the 2018 election cycle. Within that budget, they have already invested eight figures on the tax push. They are already airing television ads, hosting events and rallying donors to write checks, call lawmakers and pen op-eds in an effort to ramp up pressure.”—
It’s a darn shame that so much money is wasted on these campaigns when there are so many other, more urgent situations where these massive amounts of money are needed badly.
How better to spend money than to use it to make even more?
The Koch Bros want to continue denying Global Warming and pushing to get the spiderweb of pipelines completed. Why waste money on LOBBYING when you can flat-out OWN the Representatives you need bought and paid for.
I guarantee you if they owned 100 wind farms in W Texas they'd be on board (W Global Warming) in a heartbeat !!
BTW it's 90˚F in Lindale today and it's OCT 13th !! - halfway through the F-ing month... WTF happened to FALL ?? .... and I already see Christmas BS at Lowes and Wal Mart !! Geezus Kree-iced !! Hooray for "greedy capitalism" ... the "gift" that keep on givin' !!!
Had a conservative friend ask me today about Weinstein. I said I was glad the Dems and Hollywood came out so quickly to condemn him. He said they've all known it for YEARS. Dunno about that but it wasn't a fact- at best rumors... and we know how they fly around Hollywood !!
Regardless, I said that #1 : the conservatives like to pick on him but ignore the groper-in-Chief and he confessed by HIS own words !! No rumor there... and not only did they NOT condemn him, but they nominated him as their candidate and then elected the sorry azz !! ...the ultimate approval !!
#2 ; when faced with undesirables like Nazis and White Supremacists- their Leader said they were good people!! oh yeah, the SS were just German Boy scouts !
Above 2 things Hardly comparable to the Weinstein matter.
The Casting Couch & The Boss chasing the Secretary around the desk has been standard BS for so long that it's become (if you'll excuse the pun) A RUNNING JOKE!
I've been hit on by my share of bosses & foreman... I think they think it's almost expected of them... as if you'd feel snubbed if he din't at least TRY.
...anyway... yes, it's (IMHO) DEGRADING! I'm glad people are FINALLY speaking out on the part of women who have always suffered in silence for fear of either retaliation, or even "flac" from co-workers (take your pick) ...if she succumbed or not.
It's an unbelievably awkward situation at the very best.
When it's happened to me, it changed the relationship between me and the person who robbed me of my trust.. ..I'm no longer comfortable around that person.
