What I propose is that unless they had some heinous background (like Forrest), leave them up, BUT also erect a contrasting statues like MLK, Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, etc. It might actually provoke some deep thoughts and soul searching.
Comments..ok I'll give it a go ....
I'm not for removing the many monuments, statues etc that show the History of our past and certainly for erecting statues plagues etc of the people you have mentioned, who are representative's of our history we have to represent our past after we are long gone for example the Vietnam wall memorial .....but people across the world both past [Lenin's statue for one example] and present get fed up and express their feelings with anger, fear, etc and our President has been poking the nest of hate, bulling, lies, mockery of the constitution and his continuance of trying to destroy anything connected to the Obama Presidency, tweets of how he will oust gays, transgenders etc out of the Military the list is endless as you know Dave' so when what happened in Va and his speech afterwards with no mention of David Dukes white racists Hitler lovers who we all know gave millions to his campaign was the cry across America that [to borrow a great quote] "WE are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore" so statues start being torn down....and 2 days later after his second "I care so much mockery" of what happened two days before well more statues will be coming down because he held the match that has ignited the fuel of what is happening when a "piss poor President" that is a nut job is elected President...Sh..t happens.... just me and my comments of expressing my feelings of the toppling of our history's statues kiddo !!
