If you are just updating the phone, I wouldn't worry about turning off Find Your Phone. I upgraded mine and Amy's this way with no problems.

Man you're hardheaded John. You seem to be missing the point. As I told you above, it's not that having it on causes the problems. If it was on and then there were problems you could not back the phone up in order to restore to that point in time.

Plus you keep insisting because you had no problems that nobody else should. Thousands of people had problems. Not because find my phone was on, but once they had problems they couldn't back out of it because find my phone was on and they couldn't turn it off since they were locked out of the phone.

When the guy I mentioned above took his into the Apple Store yesterday there were four other people in there with the same problem.

Well.. I think you don't even need to go to iCloud for this.
Just turn it off on your phone and update.

Yes nice to see you all. I updated - I believe I made a mistake by switching to another user (my primary one) which confused the upgrade process right when the phone wanted to talk to iTunes. It was even telling me I would need to restore my iPhone, but somehow turning iTunes on and off fixed things and it recognized the iPhone, which looked frozen mid update. I was happy I'd backed up to iTunes and taken the extra steps suggested - though luckily in the end I didn't need it in the end.

I don't know what they did but the keyboard is easier to use; I'm making many less typos than usual.

Nuke, I LIKE your comment smile

yes I did - 5 weeks in the States. Hope I'm not making this thread go FUBAR. (can I say I love the new font and are the letter in the keyboard on my phone somehow better placed? Sure seems so.)

I went to Vancouver CA, Portland, Seattle, Lafayette and New Orleans, numerous exciting Iowa locations, Omaha, LA, and the Sequioa Nat'l Park/Forest. Never done so many places on one home trip. A bit hectic but worth it.
