thanks Reboot. I'll take that advice from someone who works with this stuff for his supper.

Nuke, I'd like that comment if I had the option. smile

John, hadn't seen that an update is up. Thanks.

Does signing out turn Find My iPhone off?

You mean signing out of iCloud on the phone? Yes but you're turning the iCloud backup off too. You can always just turn Find My Phone off in the same screen.

If you mean signing out of icloud.com no, you would need to go to the device at icloud.com under Find My Phone. Devices, and x out to tell it to forget the phone. That should flip the Find My Phone switch on the phone to off, you need to be connected to wifi on the phone though for it to work.

This is way over my head. I used to be ahead of the curve too. I need to go to some place called icloud.com to do this? I do have Find My iPhone on my phone. I went to that website and it asks me if I want to install it though I already have it.

I'm not "set up for iCloud on this device" as far as I know, which is another thing icloud.com wants me to do. If it's not set up then maybe I don't need to worry about disconnecting?

I have already backed up my iPhone 6 to iTunes

Go to settings, iCloud. If iCloud's on it won't ask you to turn it on. If it is on and you scroll down you'll see find my iPhone near the bottom. You'll also see sign out. If you don't see sign out or any green buttons you're probably not signed into iCloud.

Are you signing in to iCloud online with the same ID that is on your phone if you go to settings, iCloud? I ran into one a couple weeks ago where the guy had three different Apple IDs. Drove me crazy wondering why the stuff in iCloud on Safari was different from his phone. He was signed in with one ID on his phone, and signed in to iCloud in Safari with a different ID.

iCloud setting has me signed up for the same ID I use for most things (yes I have more than one because sometimes I want to get stuff from the US store that the Japanese one won't let me have).

forgive if I repeat but I should then sign out of iCloud and or Find my iPhone.

I had no idea Find my iPhone had so many used beyond, you know, finding my iPhone.
