Looking for a good Blu-Ray/DVD/CD burner(Is there 1) that I can use on a G5 or a new Mac Mini as well as SHUDDER a PC. My G5 does have a internal CD/DVD burner but I'm looking for additional backup. Mini obviously needs something so thinking of all in 1 if it exists. Currently using raid as backup but want some remote backups as well, hence blu-ray for capacity. Any suggestions from past experience?
The rule of thumb for back ups is 3, so a CrashPlan account is good. I got one recently.... easy-peasy and it's off site. For the super important stuff I make sure there are at least 3 copies. Also, be careful with Blu Rays. I had one that I soured with a fingerprint. I have no idea what I had on my fingers that day I touched it... but few months after burning it I tried to read it and it wouldn't load. Upon closer inspection there was a nice print on the leading edge. that was causing it to not even load. Not saying BDs are bad, and they are much more resilient than CDs, but not as impervious as one might believe.
