System Preferences, Security and Privacy, General tab, Advanced button, check mark Disable remote control infrared receiver.
Also go to the App Store on the phone, search for Remote. You can use your iPhone for a remote. It's a lot nicer when typing things in for example, the keyboard comes up so you don't have to do use the onscreen click click click back down up etc onscreen keyboard.
