1st Gen iPad refurb from Apple.
I bought it because the one we have is a Gen 2 that I can't move the OS past 7.x because the newer OS is sluggish on the 2s and even some 3s.
Ok... not a complete brick... but there lots of reports the old architecture can't handle the new beast. Plus Gen 1 iPads stopped at iOS 6 .. so it's a matter of time for the iPad 2s.

This thing is sleek. Thinner, same size screen, yet smaller bezel/border. The screen is a hair thinner one the wide side? Hard to tell w/o looking up specs.
Also got the official Apple leather cover that makes the iPad start/sleep automatically.
Retina screen is badass. I have seen the retinas on our phones... but you can really appreciate on the larger real estate.

So.. Reboot... I may have a couple of questions on getting some settings ported over.
I am not doing a restore due to some previous issues with some data/movies not being recognized and are "lost data". As in the iPad 2 doesn't see them... but I can tell they are there from the data usage bar.

Unless you do a restore any settings will have to be done manually. The restore usually fixes problems though.

As far as the iOS8 sluggishness they've pretty much fixed that by now. When it first came out my bro has a Gen 2 and hated it, Safari was a dog, it's okay now though.

Hmmm.. that's ok. Ima gonna sell the gen 2 to offset the Air. Hopefully won't have to upgrade for many more years. laugh

Can't most of the settings be cloned thru iCloud?

Yes you can through iCloud. I thought you said you didn't not want to restore settings though because of corruption.

I find it's much quicker if you back up the old one to a computer first, then plug the new one in and restore from that back up.

Yeah.. but it then restores the whole shebang and I want to start fresh on the apps and data and add them in one at a time. The games and apps should be in the cloud. Don't want to lose my daughters game data. eek
I guess when it comes to OS prefs and tweaks I'll just do that by hand.

I'll figure it out.

/Where is Terminal on this damn thing anyways...??? laugh

Both ways, from iCloud or iTunes, restores the whole shebang, you can't pick and choose apps. Doing it from the computer is a lot faster since everything doesn't have to download from the cloud.

I highly recommend at least backing it up to the computer so in case something happens with the cloud and app data you can us iExplorer to possibly get app data back.

iExplorer restoring.

Good Luck. smirk

That's what I was going to do... download previously purchased apps and install.
Otherwise... what do i do about the movies that aren't linked anymore? I can't remember exactly... maybe a HD failure or something... restore.. w/e, but their were movies listed previously and then the links/icons weren't there but the movies were still on the iPad. I could tell from the usage bar.

We have lost communication.

Just downloading previous apps and installing them will not restore their data, although some apps like Angry Birds Friends will if you log in with the same credentials.

Please just make sure you back it all up to iTunes first. But what do I know. smirk

The game settings and data is stored in the cloud. It should resync to thegame once it's installed.

Check your communicator Scotty... see if it's working.

Aye Capn'... seems fine now.
