So I have a long time customer whose son needs to install Windows on his MacBook Pro for school to run SolidWorks 2015 EDU.

First, the "IT" guy at Ohio State University (you've heard of them probably) said it needed Win 8 to run, check the specs in the link above.

Second, he wondered if installing Windows on a Mac would void AppleCare. laugh

These are the people parents are paying 10s of thousands of dollars to educmacate their kids.

I get the pleasure of speaking to the OSU "IT professionals" directly tomorrow. I will be professional for the student's sake, but I will hate it. cry

No, installing Windows on a Mac will not void Applecare Protection Plan. In fact, Apple has added Bootcamp just for that purpose. http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
