- did we all MISS the biggest Mac story of yesterday?

We heard about the eMac..

We heard about the new Powerbook..

.. but does anyone know WHY these items were released BEFORE the big Apple shindig? Usually they're announced during such events.

MY THEORY: In recent shindigs, rumor sites kinda break the news early. I think even MM managed it the last time. So MM, am I right in thinking Apple said FSCK IT and decided to beat you all to the punch?

Just curious..

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM

There is one problem with that theory all the rumors sites were predicting it anyway. Only release today for the PowerBook not yesterday and a while for the eMac. I can only assume the eMac was not introduced at MWNY as it is for education and does not really have the wow factor apple would want. And I assume the powerbooks were ready so they were released now rather than later.

“Here can be found the last words of Joseph of Arimathea. Well, I don't read rumor sites, so that hadn't occurred to me. Good point. Still, it was disorienting for me that two new products surfaced one a non-big deal day..

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM
G9!

I know this is like SPINAL TAP going up to 11, but imagine if they had some secret chip they've been sitting on, and SUDDENLY a Power Mac was like 19 times faster than anything, no matter what?

I'm not saying this is needed, but I'd love to see the most stubborn of PC jaws drop. Just once..

Do you rhumba? Excellent! Now pick a rhumba and sit down.. GM
You won't see a G5 until 2003... they have already stated the G4 has plenty of life left in it - I wouldn't be shocked to see a 1.4ghz and 1.6ghz model released. 10.2 will probably be announced and maybe even released. iBook is due for a kick in the pants as well. I suspect it will be a minor speed-bump.

[color:red]semicolon dash parenthesis
