My Australian colleague teaches Aussie Rules football in English to 12th grade high school boys. He's been doing it for 3-4 years now. I have learned a bit about it since then. I was surprised that the rules are quite a bit different from rugby.

In the same way that American football differs from Rugby, which is to say Aussie Rules, American football and Rugby are pretty much different animals completely =)
Was a time when one of the cable channels here actually carried Aussie Rules games (taped) and the Grand Final (I think that's what it was called -- basically their Super Bowl -- live!). I was really caught up in it. A wonderful game! Sadly, that coverage seems to have disappeared, so I don't keep up with it much anymore. But it sure was a blast while it lasted =)
