Well I won't say it was due to the new GUN LAWS !! They may not have gone into effect yet, BUT it does say volumes about our stinkin' culture… the gun mentality (or should I say retardation) !! 50 years ago someone get POed at someone they get a punch in the nose or a black eye. Today- we just shoot em !!
AND NOT to mention the new LAW makes the job of the POLICE much much harder !!
M Moore was right in "Bowling for Columbine" it's the stupid culture… bunch of FKING "Bubba brains" !!!
Might as well do away with police , save the damm $$, and just let the "Barney Fife vigilantes" do the work !!
I've said this before but , of course, not a lot of aggrement, but I believed a lot of it is due to copycating previous situations. Folks get upset then do what has been done before even to the suicide after.
I can't see, myself, how any gun laws would have prevented this with any certainty.
If we don't count our blessings We are just wasting our time
So let me finish the thought for you: If there had been an employee with a carry permit there, there may have been 2 or 3 or more additional victims — not necessarily including the perp. Or maybe s/he could've given the shooter one hell of a paper cut with that permit!
The BIGGEST problem I have with guns in general, is people get guns and even if they had a background check they might be sane and pass…. but that doesn't do squat for them later , esp. years later, when they might go off the deep end and do what this idiot did !! SO background checks NEED to be done, but IMHO they need to be renewed just like a drivers license, and even then it's not perfect -but it'd be helluva lot better. ALSO unless they're a registered collector… I think they should limit the # a person can buy…. and ammo too. BUT none of this "logical sense" is going to happen.
BUT we need to change the culture… the mindset that a gun and killing is the answer to anyone's problems- frustrations. I also believe a lot is brought on by our highly driven capitalist system… you don't see this BS in Canada and Europe because they value workers and take time to enjoy life… not so dog eat dog !! Push-push-push !!
