While at Petsmart yesterday, for the first time in my life, I watched a long haired cat being shaved. When done, this cat looked just like a lion. Really cute. Looked sort of like this one.
I can no longer brush my cat. I tried once in the bathroom & got 2 puncture wounds as a result. Unknown why he's changed. I hadn't combed or brushed my cat all winter! At my old spot, he loved being groomed. Yesterday I took my cat to Petsmart. The groomer combed so much under coat from my cat, that she told the other groomer, she made 4 more cats!!!! She even cut its back claws (front are declawed). My cat was docile the whole time! I was so shocked! My cat is median haired. I told the groomer I may try the lion look shave in the autumn/winter. Will see how docile he stays during his summer visits. I plan on having him groomed every other month during the spring/summer months. Petsmart charges $7 for comb outs & nail cutting. After I brought him home, he slept all afternoon & night in a deep sleep. I bought him a new skull & cross bone collar that glows in the dark.
Shortly after bringing her home as a kitten, our older cat, Muffinz got ringworm, and she had to be shaved. She never forgave us. My 3-legged shelter cat, Junior, has a very thick coat and he loves to be brushed. He has a very distinctive meow to let me know when, and when he can gain access to my work table, he'll sit next to the cubby where I keep his brushes and meow 'til I obey. He purrs like a motor boat while he gets his "treatment".
My cat's normal coat is very thick. I had to brush him every other week. After the Petsmart comb out/brushing, he now has a light coat. What a difference. I didn't realize until today that the groomer cut all that hair from his belly & privates. Now my cat can groom his private parts without trying to tongue move his fur to get to his jewels.
