Loc: Petaluma, CA
Came home yesterday to the sight of the landlords gardeners cleaning up the place. OH NO. Bud and Lou were gone, and I actually sifted through their garbage, but couldn't find them. They must have thought I was crazy. I'm hoping they had a crash course in flying and escaped, but the nest was still empty this morning. Farewell, my little feathered friends. You made me happy, at least for a little while…
We had a momma MockingBird build a nest next door. Momma defended the nest against All Comers!! until the babies were fully feathered then forced them out of the nest and lead them safely across the street into the graveyard... ...where I'm happy to report, that they stayed hidden, but well fed & cared for until they were ready to follow her around until she was ready to chase them into their own territory (like human parents) to set up a place of their own.
Hope that helps
