Due to the unusually cold weather in the South what
they're describing as "WAVES" of Robins are flocking
North while our ground is still covered in up to a foot
of compacted snow/ice. I searched-out an alternative
diet
to help sustain them .....until their diet of insects
becomes readily available: Fruits & Berries fit the Bill.

Fruits and berries, you mean you don't have a ready supply of worms and grubs to give them? smile

The alternative link suggests Meal Worms
which can be had @ any Pet Store, since
it's a universal source of protein for
just about any insectivorous animal.

Thanks for sharing the robin pic & video Celandine. The only birds I've seen in my new hood are large hawks. I've never any pigeons out here yet.
Since the weather will be hitting 50 degrees Sat, I am going to take a walk around. Thanks to you, I will be looking for robins.
Will be taking my cam.

EDIT: Have a migraine. Can't type worth sh..t. mad

Hawks (raptors) Migrate too...

NJ/PA is a Major "FlyWay"
between So. America & Canada.

I wasn't expecting robins this early either
I usually spot the first one close to my B'Day
at the end of March, and I'd NEVER seen them in flocks
...never even knew they traveled that way until 2 days ago.

* hope your migraine abates so you
can enjoy the brief respite in the weather.

I didn't know those darn hawks migrated. I see them all year round. More so now, since I now live in the bush. Those suckers are HUGE! The other day looking out the window I was watching one eating a meal on top of my neighbors car. What a bloody mess. All that was left...a bushy tail & a bunch of gray fur. So I gather it was a squirrel.
The hawk must not have been a nesting female.

The tenets with small dogs, only walk them at night now. I think one of the little tenants dogs was attacked by a hawk. shocked
