There is no longer a Guest log in option?

I think once you've connected one time as a password-enabled user, the option disappears. I remember seeing it in the past, at any rate, but it's not there now.

Turn it on in the list to the left in the Users & Groups Prefs Panel. It's still available, no matter how many users you've created.

I'll have to check those settings on my father-in-law's MBP. It's a new computer since the last time he was here, so it has a new user ID and password. He also has SMB enabled. For what reason, I don't know.
