Wait for a year or so till the figures come out on the increased tax revenue, plus how much was saved by law enforcement not having to pursue the "smugglers" and the growers, not putting people in jail for smoking a joint, plus keeping production local rather than over the border.
When the conservative pols finally see the money to made by regulating and taxing it along with what is saved by not enforcing archaic laws, and that Colorado hasn't become a Sodom or Gomorrah, things will change quickly all over. The almighty dollar will speak loudly.
My parents learned that their "REEFER MADNESS" indoctrination was pure kaka by interacting with me and my kid brother. Hopefully people won't screw up & ruin it for everybody by driving under the influence, ...and the rest could be historic.
Loc: Petaluma, CA
We just got an email from the landlord explaining the new anti cigarette smoking laws in town. 20 feet away from any residence? Understandable. If you see a friend, neighbor, or stranger smoking within 20 feet? Call the police immediately. WTF? Seriously? Weed is exempt, because it's illegal anyway. Triple WTF???
I'll ask the same thing Jim did--where did that idea come from? My wife does not nor ever has smoked pot. I've been in CO many times--she has not. I'll go in the pot bar while she's out looking at the scenery. OK--maybe I'll go see the scenery too. Seriously, though, I can't wait to see those alpine meadows again. They are absolutely gorgeous.
