Thats a good scam, not new however, I remember a Brother A.A. Allen back 50 years ago offering what amounted to a quarter of a handkerchief size piece of cloth that he had used to wipe his brow that would bring riches beyond belief all you had to do was send a love offering to him in exchange for the used cloth.
There was another scam about the same time, where you could buy a graven image, plaster statue of some sort, and the preacher would break it for you to release you from poverty, unlike the above scam, this one you got nothing, just the word that the graven image had been smashed.
