I know this is already old news, but, man, it still pisses me off.
Yes, he took Palin to task in a very harsh way over her public display of ignorance regarding slavery. But despite the off-she-shelf right wing outrage, he said nothing that one could truly call derogatory — and he issued a sincere apology — directly to her — a day later. Not the canned "…sorry to those who were offended…" pap, but an honest acknowledgement that he was wrong to allow his personal feelings and anger to influence his professional behavior, and that he would be especially diligent to prevent that from happening again.
But the noise from Fox Nation only got louder. Where were the charges of vulgarity when Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a slut? Where were the gasps of disbelief when Beck said Obama hates white people? I could list endless examples, but why bother?
So Bashir is gone — by his own choice — and once again, a Liberal takes the high road while Conservatives can't stop crapping in their pants.
He resigned a couple of days ago. After the Palin apology, he asked the network for a few extra days to get his head together, and then chose to resign rather than be a distraction. A real mensch. MSNBC published a statement explaining that this was Bashir's decision and that Palin did not get her way — which, of course is her POV regardless. Idiot.
Alec Baldwin was destined to implode … who knew he would self-destruct so quickly. Thank god he only offended gays and not Sarah Palin [/sarcasm].
Martin Bashir was an excellent host & interveiwer, but his end of show commentary usually took the Olberman-style sarcasm and bite, and well, we know how well that ended for Olberman. I wasn't surprised that Bashir imploded too. Of course there is no comparison to the daily bile dished out on Fox and by conservative asshats. Fox is gloating, Palin is gloating too. I think Fox gave the MSNBC/Bashir story more air time than Mandela's death.
Palin can say that Obama pals around with terrorists, that he hates America. She can compare healthcare reform to slavery. She does indeed spew bullsh!t from her pouty lips but the difference is that the media cashes in on it … and Bashir's "resignation" is worth more to all of them because they get more Palin and more feigned outrage. And so it goes.
I don't like any of these guys. They all have self induced sperm of self importance. It goes for them all. I see that Fox has given Megan Kelly her own prime time show and taken her off the morning show. They should have given her her own cat house. I really can't stand that woman.
If we don't count our blessings We are just wasting our time
