"KABUL — Efforts by the United States and Afghanistan to finalize a long-term security arrangement appeared on the brink of collapse Monday as Afghan President Hamid Karzai made a new set of demands, and the Obama administration said it would be forced to begin planning for a complete withdrawal of U.S. forces at the end of 2014."

Yah, what a shame, eh? Of course, unless House Repugnicans get serious a/b a jobs bill (read: Infrafukkinstructure) we'll just be bringing home more unemployed vets that much sooner.

Karzai is a little like all those South Vietnamese presidents we installed supported back in the '60s. Untrustworthy, stupid, inviting retaliation from his enemies.
But then, I guess since he was installed elected, that's his prerogative.

That's the whole point... WHY do we keep supporting degenerative THUGS as figureheads of countries we should have NO say in ? Iran, Iraq, Panama, Afghanistan, you mention S Vietnam .... list is long
Even if you're a right wing nut who backed Bush in Iraq... does Afghanistan have any OIL ? What advantage do we have leaving troops there... there are dozens of other countries terrorists can train in... are we going to cover all of central Asia ?? then there's Yemen, several parts of Africa !! Are we going to cover them ALL ? IF NOT, then what's the f-king point with Afghanistan ?? It's a FAILED STRATEGY !!!
GOOD LUCK holding that ground... ONLY way it'll stay intact is to pay tribute (bribes) to all the warlords whose land it crosses !! About as smart as building a nuclear reactor on a major fault line !! . . You'd have better luck smoking cigars in the middle of a gas refinery !!
