The leading "13" in lan's example is the day,
--- not the year

Your example would read:
The 12th day of November, in the year 2013
12 Nov.'13
12/11/13

Prolly does make more sense, but it's a matter
of what one is used to same as the Metric System

Using an internationally consistent decimal system
for measuring makes infinitely more sense than
the SIZE of the King's FOOT ...or From the Tip of
Your Middle Finger To the END of Your NOSE.

...but try telling that to the Average American.

I'm pretty sure the leading 13 is the year, "13/11/12 vs 11/12/13".

The other day was 11/12/13, 13 being the year.

now I'm confused...
...I've never seen the Year First...
maybe that's how it's done in the Land of the Emperor

but on all my European & Australian Forums
the Posts are dated by Day, Month then Year
(took a bit of getting used to) blush

In the US we use the Month, Day then Year.

I've wondered about this situation several times. Where I will read or hear of a rare odd event or word, then shortly later in a completely different context the same word or phrase.
