It's easier to remove a cat from the jungle

than it is to remove the jungle from the cat.

If you can't accept that... then stick to dogs.

If it's a rescue dog that came with that name
my guess is that some "tool" was dead-set on

that he even NAMED it "Springer"...
...then got so disappointed when it grew into
a Cocker Spaniel instead that he dumpt it @

Cocker Spaniels are MARVELOUS DOGS! Perhaps
one of the few breeds I'd even consider owning.

I must be the only person in this thread that has a cat from hell! The devil reincarnated.
Not affectionate
Biter
Declawed but knows how to use those back claws
Doesn't like to be touched

The vet suspects he's a feral. Not use being around humans or was never around them prior to being placed in a shelter. I got him from a shelter at 3 months old. He's now 5 yrs old weighing 17 lbs.
1st day home (devil in disguise)

Get him 'wasted'
you'll be surprised
how 'mellow' he gets.

ROTFLMAOOOOOO

Catnip is out of the question. Been there, done that. Bootsie was literally flying around my apt. My SO was like, are you sure he's not a bat in disguise? laugh He's the one that gave him the stuff. mad

What does calm him down is grooming if you grab him by his neck like mama cats do w/their babies. However, since I moved, grooming has been out of the question. He hates the new place. Got the puncture wounds to prove it. mad Last night, I found out that my local Petsmart does cat grooming for $6 bucks an hour if all you want is a brushing. Made an appt for this Saturday.

I also am going to get him while I am at the store. I threw out the old one when I moved. I think it's why he hates the new place. No place to hide (he now jumps into the shower stall mad ) , lounge on a high ledge or sleep. He got tired of sleeping in a box while I was unpacking.

Actually the best thing for an anti-social cat is to not give them anywhere to be concealed. Closets, deep corners under furniture, desks, or kitchen cupboards etc. Anything they can use for a hiding place. They must have nowhere to hide for a while. They need to realize that being totally exposed is no threat, and all the while they still have all of their comforts. Extra treats may help them feel secure.

This probably won't happen in a week or so BTW.

Do you have anything that still smells familiar? A bed or pillow of his?

The cat tree is good, he needs a place he can call home, but like I said above, if you let him hide, he has no chance of becoming social. We must try to break those instincts.

Some cats are just mentally challenged, like some people. My RooRoo is, trust me, he's lovable as hell, but a brick short as compared to the rest. See his mouth hanging open? He is usually like that.

I threw out his bed. Didn't want that filthy thing in my new apt. He loves large clear plastic trash bags. He'll either lay, nap, groom or go inside to watch what's going on. Right now, I have the bag in a corner near a window. That corner I noticed he now claims as his home.
He does have a rubber ball that he bites on instead of me. Ball stays in the corner on the plastic.
No biting me = treats.

The cat condo will fit in the corner perfectly. The plastic will be at the base of the condo so his scent will rub off. This morning I let him roam the hallway outside my apt. He walked up & down the hallway smelling each apt door. There are 2 dog owners on my end. I left my door cracked & went about unpacking. I went to check on him 20 minutes later when I heard the dogs barking, & there he was just sitting outside the door looking like a perfect angel. He rubbed his scent on the door frame & sauntered right back into the apt tail straight up to his corner. Think I'll make this a morning ritual until he gets use to the place.
