Anyone see that tape of Raphael Cruz (the Tedster's father) railing against Obama at a rally. As soon as the feces struck the rotary impeller blade, the Cruz machine blocked the video, of course. But not before it caused a mini shˇt storm. So, Raphie, when do we send your lil' boy back to Canada? Or you back to Cuba, for that matter?
I'll tell you why, Raphie, because no one doubts your citizenship. What a f'n concept, eh? But the irony and the hypocrisy just blows me away. One "other" — by virtue of his birthplace — condemning another "other" as if he were a native-born 'Murikin.
We Libs said terribly derogatory things a/b W. And if it was hate, it was hate for his deeds, not his persona. But the white wing (not a typo) rhetoric we've seen since Obama's first election has been beyond incomprehensible.
Yeah, yeah… so I'm preaching to the choir. But still…
The funny thing is that if you compare Democrats' treatment of Republicans under Bush and Republicans' treatment of Democrats under Obama, it gets funny in terms of anger. I remember Republicans trolling Democrats about all of that seething Bush hatred. Republicans these days run on that. They tiptoed around it during McCain's run, ran on it in 2010, and now can't seem to quit it in 2013.
Democrats can't be angry because people hold them to higher standards. It's bad for Howard Dean, but probably better for the country.
The unhappy difference this time is the unmistakable element of racism. There are many on the right — and not necessarily the far right — that can't cope with an African American in the WH. Dems, Libs, and Progs viewed Bush as the village idiot (often times justifiably), but never as an "Other". Nor was W's faith of choice nor his place of birth ever questioned.
Ha! They must've removed the block, because a couple of days ago — on that same site — the screen said "Private Video", and it couldn't be viewed. I guess they decided to let their freak flag fly after all.
Democrats may have hated W, but there was no paralysis in Congress. Bush got his Medicare prescription plan, his invasion of Iraq, his "PATRIOT" Act, his tax cuts, his NCLB Act, his creation of Homeland Secutiry, his energy policy act, and free trade agreements with Chile, Morocco, Australia, Dominican Republic-Central America, Bahrain, and Singapore. And that's leaving out a lot of legislation approved during his tenure in office. Hard to believe, but Democrats cooperated. The same just cannot be said about Reps. As for the Dems' "supermajoritiy" in 08-12, read this and weep.
