Still pleasant in E Texas... days 70-75 F... nights 55-50 F !

Really nice working in " tha yaard" in the cool crisp weather...
now you might be wondering WTH is he doing in " tha yaard" ?

Getting the vegetable beds prepped for next spring- mulching leaves, turning soil, getting grass along edges out... etc. My soil need LOTS of conditioning. Basically 1 step above sand !! frown
I am growing some lettuce! ... and brussels sprouts !
Still have sweet banana peppers, bell peppers, and jalapeños coming in ! Cooler weather really stimulated them.
Okras and maters been gone for a week ! So hot this summer they were almost stewed on the vine !! whistle

not one bit jealous
of that 'mater-stewing heat this summer eek

smart move prepping the soil NOW for next Spring
Dry leaves, green clippings... horsey & chicken poo
are also a big plus. (watch WEEDS THOUGH!!!)
The beauty of A COMPOST HEAP is the internal temps
actually get high enough to cooks/kills weed seeds.

Then wet'er down & let it stew until next Spring.

I've enjoyed our 60° weather.

60º external temps are very pleasant this time of year.
switch from my usual Keen sandals to Ugg shoes and
slip on cuddly velour long pants and Alpaca poncho..

but while indoors, my tendency toward going around
shall we say, very (VERY) scantily clad blush 60º can get
somewhat less than cozy.

I still recall what was a famous Nor'Easter hit NJ.
It dumped 3-5 foot of snow over night, entirely
burying everyone's cars, making it next to
impossible to clear the roads, lest you plow into
parked cars concealed beneath the snow drifts.

What brings it to mind was that one of my Southern
relatives came up for a visit that year, and
experienced more than the usual Alabamian "glazing"
for the first time in his life! laugh

As I've already related, we lived within an
industrial park... so my dad would sometimes
volunteer to get up before day break to clear the
parking lots before the other workers would arrive.

When Gary got up in the morning and asked where
my dad was, we casually told him that he was out
plowing the snow.

We still have a laugh over Gary's astonishment
over WTH anyone would want to get on a tractor
and plow snow!?! blush what the heck would he plant???

He also couldn't grok Snowshovels... He was game
to help dig out our car, but he figured whatever
needed doing was to be done using a garden shovel.

LOL we gave up trying to explain that the noise
he heard out in the street was made by something
called "Snowchains"!

Just having piles is uncomfortable eough! But ants in your piles? You must be dancing around at 100 mph.
