I think I posted about this BBC show before, but I have to again because it is (to me) so compelling a show. Seasons 4 and 5 (which I just started) are deeply into the corruption that the combination of big money, paranoia, and ruthless domestic spying engender. The first two episodes of season 5 are just spine chilling--at least for me. Some of the stuff that gets presented is no doubt over the top, but done so that you willingly consent to the over-the-topness. It is also a ruthless, absolutely ruthless show. It gets you used to and interested in characters, and then kills them without warning. I mean major characters, the stars of the show. By the fifth season, only two characters remain from the original group. The only problem with the show is that it's making me even more paranoid than usual!
