Even though we're on the face of the Earth for what seems like forever.. it is actually merely a Tick of the Geological Clock.
What seems solid and unchanging beneath our feet is actually solid rock being kneaded like bread -- folded, baked and thrust high into the air, only to be brought low again crushed beneath the weight of water, time and gravity -- then recycled once again.
The Earth yearning for Uniformity (flatness) "Slump", "Creep", and often "Tumble" are merely just another Force of Nature.
BTW It brings to mind the George Carlin Rant about people choosing to live on the edge of a Volcano -- who are shocked when they wind up having Lava In the Living Room!
