Watching the John Travolta film, Phenomenon and its sad ending, had me thinking, again, of the Music Therapist , Deanna Edwards.
I first became acquainted with her music in the late 70's when my wife was involved in the Hospice in Dodge City. At the time, her music just sent chills up my spine and I would soon be blubbering with emotion by her lyrics and her singing style.
Back in 2005 or so while we watched my sister die of lung cancer, I found her website and received a thoughtful email from her. Plus I got a cd of her music.
Some of the lines she wrote have stuck with me through my troubles.
Like: "teach me how to die and I will teach you how to live" ( something like this)
"If it turns out that President Barack Obama can make a deal with the most intransigent, hard-line, unreasonable, totalitarian mullahs in the world but not with Republicans? Maybe he’s not the problem."
