A person's sexuality is a part of them. Many bios about him list this. Coming out with that publicly is a brave move even in these times. His Japanese ancestry was what interested me the most. And...?

Yes.. it is a part of them. Clearly. You never hear about someones sexuality if they are a hetero. Can you imagine..? ..."He was the 128th straight Senator to be elected in the great state of Ohio". Who effin cares?
BTW... using "and" was not meant as a barb or combative gesture. If I'm talking to someone and they say something I find quizzical or preposterous... and I look at them with a raised eyebrow and say..."aannddd"? it usually means "and you're point is?" Of course I have had to embellish here to make sure I'm clear on the description. Seems to me when someone would post "and...?" after a comment that it would be clear. Guess not.
Agreed.. it was pointed upwards... not at Lano specifically... but rather to both of you. As you can see.. I also responded specifically to his comment.

All the people who have been in the gay closet care. All the people who have relatives who have committed suicide care. All the people who have been subjected to verbal and physical attacks care.
But none of this is news. Anyone who has not been living in a cave or wilfully denies the importance of role models for the LGBT community, cares.
I could be wrong, but I believe you do not live in a cave.

Well, you both have very valid points. I get where Nuc is coming from — that it shouldn't make any damned difference at all. Unfortunately, it has made a profound difference historically, which underscores Leslie's point.
Generation by generation, it matters less. But until it matters not — completely — the issue will still be at the root of misery and tragedy for many.
Of course he has a valid point, if it were possible. But you and I both know that is never going to happen. We live in an imperfect world. Discrimination is alive and doing very well.
I agree each generation is more educated and it does indeed, matter less. But there will never be a "completely". A society must always be reminded of their history in order to move forward. The blacks will never let us forget slavery, the Jews will never let us forget the holocaust, the LGBT will never let us forget the Stonewall riots; to name a few.
