Kevin Durant's the Man!
Kevin Durant, star of the just defeated Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, has donated $1,000,000 to the Red Cross for the tornado relief.
And he did it with out publicizing it. Others founde out about it and gave to media. I guess he feels like he has been given a lot buy his local fans and wants to return.

As I recall, the tristate tornado ccurred during the day, where I believe most have happened in the late afternoon-early evening. The tristate also might have been more than one tornado. It also went through small towns and rural areas. I don't think it hit a larger city like Ok City is. Back then, they had few warning systems and little communication. But, and this is my feeling, in 1925 the rural population, including small twns had a keen sense of the weather and watched it all the time. I know my older siblings did and my folks, all who were around then.
All in all, things are different now. It's hard to compare such things. But tornados can be murderous, as are Hurricanes and earthquakes.
As to earthquakes. We had one with epicenter northeast of Tulsa that I felt clear up here. Rather rattled me. Pun intended

You're right Dave - they don't know if the TriState was 1 or a family of 9 that traveled over 300 miles combined. They didn't have the technology then to tell. Regardless, it came from the same storm system that unleashed Hell on 3 states !
I really feel for the people of Moore... man, twice in 14 years and BOTH EF5s !! Holy Shiite, Batman !

My family and I stayed at a Ramada Inn there in '95. The motel was nice, but it was the only place I've ever stayed with armed guards walking the hallways.
Got a good pizza up the road, though.

Well, I was there in just for that evening in either 1967 or 1968. So much was happening in my life back then it's difficult to recall it all in chronological order.
In May 1970 I just moved out of the dorm and into a house with 2 other guys. Left Lubbock and went home to Amarillo- 120 mi N. That night we found out a tornado nailed Lubbock and was I worried I'd lost all my belongings. Luckily it wasn't in the part of town I moved into. Phew, close call !!
