One of my brothers had it last year. We were discussing it today. He said it was so bad for him, he wouldn't wish it on his worst enemy. I thought that was a pretty stout statement and brought up his first ex-wife.... he said not even her. Must have been hell.

Sorry to hear you have to experience this. One of my children had shingles in her teens. I felt so sorry for her. It was a very painful experience. I've been getting the shingles vaccine for two years now and plan to continue.

Thanks for all the sympathies, but this outbreak on my face hasn't been terribly uncomfortable. It has spread a bit and I need to go to an ophthalmologist tomorrow to get the eye drops that prevent the shingles from causing eye ulcers. So much fun!

Saw the ophthalmologist today. He isn't concerned that it will affect my eyes due to the location of the outbreak being below the eye. If the outbreak were on my head or forehead, then there is a significantly higher risk of eye infection.
