So, what does this bill actually provide that's not already suppose to be provided for. Or is it one of those bills that everyone can get on so they can let their others think they are ping something in order to justify their vote.
So does it basically say that men should not beat up on their wives or partners?

The act was passed in 1994 to provide investigative, judicial and civil support for the victims of domestic or sexual violence that was un- or ineffectively addressed at the state/local levels.
Its reauthorization has been opposed by those concerned about the act extending protections/services to LGBT victims and to undocumented victims, as well as those concerned about issues regarding jurisdiction on tribal indian lands ...

Apparently the legislation has been rather effective in providing resources and recourse previously unavailable to victims of such acts of violence ...

I think we ought to go back to the state of law that, according to the Newshour last night, prevails in Turkey, where a woman who has been abused or beaten by her husband is returned to her husband because the police can't intervene between husband and wife. Now that strikes me as a law I can support.
Right.
