I was at least pleasantly surprised to learn he is no fan of George W. Bush.

I don't see the comparison. Piers wasn't absent from the discussion.. he was trying to get a word in edge-wise.

Surprised? W wasn't even invited to the last national convention! He's about as popular among Republicans as he was among Democrats in 2000.

Well, I suspect Jones is a Libertarian, and they were not fans of W, either.

Yeah, his wikipedia article says he political alignment is largely libertarian (which from his diatribes seems a good fit).

Not to defend the man, but Piers is not the best debater anyway - he could think of little better to say to the president of the NRA (who was being very civil despite what he might say) and called him a "stupid man" near the beginning of his exchange with him. Jones may have just been trying to go with all guns blazing, pardon the pun, to get his agenda across - however inane it is.

Of course, I have never listened to his show, he is likely always like that.

Alex... Alex... Alex...

Did anyone think that sounded just like someone talking to their inconsolable 3 year old?

He was acting like a 3 year old.
That wasn't a discussion where you might actually hear what the other side has to say. His "points" were all over the board, you could tell he has conspiracy issues. Of course he's the type to want to hug all of his guns close to his chest.

Well he was sorta talking to a 3 year old laugh

I think the frustration between the two was on 2 points.

1 - Morgan points was on statistics <- however you cannot compared violent crime from a low population (England) to a much higher population like the US and then say it is directional to gun laws <- I disagree.

2 - Jones points was the 2nd amendment and that he feels the more guns the better. <- which I disagree , after all the right to bear arms intention was to (protect) your government (not) to fight against it.

Besides this day and age you can arm yourself with whatever you can buy - but to take on todays military you gatta be out of your mind. So taking this 2nd amendment (protecting myself from my own government) is shear stupidity to begin with.

IMO

Wikipedia tells me that the population density of all of the UK is 661.9 per square mile, whereas the population density of the whole of the US is 33.7 per square mile. By way of comparison, the population density of NY City is 27,012 per square mile, and of London 13,466 per square mile. Lots more high rises in NY. Chicago's density is more like London's, 11,864 per square mile, and Philly's is 11,457. Interestingly, LA's is 8,092.

Anyway, I wonder how relevant the size of the country is as opposed to the population density.
