Daughter and I got to the polls at 5:45AM. Only a handful of peeps there. Polls opened at 6:30 and by then a pretty long line behind us. No hassles, no delays, done, and home before 7AM. And now... nail biting time.
I'm getting ready to head over soon. I'm hoping that all the people with real jobs that got in early have filtered out by now. The sidewalk cutting through the houses going to the side of the school is only about six houses down, and I don't see any cars parked out on the street.
Like I figured, perfect time to go. Those with real jobs go early, at lunch time, and late. Only 2 people in front of me. They said that they were lined up going out the door at 6 AM. 10 AM and 3 PM are their slowest times.

Done and done! 10:30am was the sweet spot, with a minimal line going in. We're back to machine-scanned paper ballots (huzzah! The all-electronic machines we had been using were okay, but always made me feel like there wasn't anything tangible to fall back on if worse came to worse). And inked-in boxes on the ballot, nothing to punch or chads to hang =)
Now for a night of drama! I usually watch PBS, but I gather Colbert will be live, which might be fun =)

Our electrics also have a paper tape running recording each vote. You can view the tape in a window off to the side as it's processing, for the paranoid types.
