..against itself cannot long stand.
I have been watching the Senate race pretty closely this year and it is turning out pretty interesting. So because many Dems decided to retire from the Senate in the election cycle, it was looking relatively easy for the GOPs to take over the Senate. But most of these races have trended blue. Goppers haven't helped themselves by some making asinine assertations about rape (though a recent comment in a Senate debate in Arizona, the Dem candidate Carmona joked that his male debate moderator was better looking than Candy Crowley which is sure to cost him with women in a race that was his to lose.)
Anyway, does it matter? The Dems are not going to get the House back, and if the Goppers take decide to block most any and everything, we are going to get the same situation as before, even if things fly through the Senate. The only thing Obama can do is things he can do without Congressional approval, like pulling troops out of Afghanistan.
Ho hum.

Dare I conjecture that if Romney won, he might turn out to be more centrist than he is selling to his base and be a decent president? Then the Dems in the Senate might actually pass stuff they think is good legislation. More things would likely get done for sure, for good or bad, because Dems actually compromise.
Worth considering as the Dems have the Senate more locked up than Obama does this race.

A Romney presidency may have the opportunity to appoint 2 or 3 Supreme Court justices. He has indicated that Scalia and Alito are role models. He will screw this country for a generation, well beyond his term in office.
Corporations are people, my friend! Money is free speech, not just property.
Yeah? Well.. what chaps my ass is that Obama inherited shiite and if Romney wins.. and Obamas hard work starts to pay off... RMoney gets the credit and the Goppers will say.. "See!.. we told you we'd fix it!"
Economists alreay predict that no matter who wins jobs, will increase by 11.8 million... and Rumney will say.. "See... I told you I would create 12 million jobs"....

Valid points. Of course, I really don't see Romney winning short of voter fraud, even if he wins the popular vote (oh and will the Gops cry over that!)

The possibility that he could win is the main reason I started this thread. I know I can talk about it now. If Romney wins, I know I won't feel like talking about it afterwards..

This is what worries me -- that thought that since congressional Republicans by and large refuse to compromise with Obama (and nothing gets done), voters might as well vote for Romney since dems are more likely to actually work with him to get things accomplished ...
Which is a quite logical line of thought, but it rewards the "if you don't give in to our demands, we're willing to tank the country" tactics on display the last four years ... and the last thing we need to validate is government by protection racket ...
