Because there are a lot of less informed late-comers — people who are now willing to respond to polltakers. If they haven't been tuned in before, they're seeing "Moderate Mitt" and not aware of his previous positions or even the GOP platform. So, of course, Mr. white, rich, good-lookin', charming, and doesn't have a ter'ist name is appealing to them.
All the more reason why Obama has to expose the fraud tonight.

Of course I am hoping for Obama to shine tonight.
But here's my prediction what we'll see. Mitt will be Mr. Sensitive and Mr. Caring. He'll mention Jesus and compassion and that he'll be president for the 100%. He'll tell personal stories how he helped some poor woman and how he's championed women as long as women have been women. The media will spin his Charm Offensive to the hilt and compare him to an aggressive Obama. Mitt will likely be leading even in the black vote by Friday.
