Yeah, the color fidelity and image quality are the WOW. The accessories and cable clutter elimination are a WHEW.
The built-in speakers are fine for my needs (not an audiophile or multi-media nut), so the external speakers and those cables are gone; There are three USB ports (plus FireWire 800, Thunderbolt, and ethernet) on the back, so the powered hub and it's two cables are gone; Built-in FaceTime webcam means no more USB external cam and cable.
I gave the 24" Acer (only a year old and a pretty sweet display for the price) and the external speakers to my daughter, who does a bit of gaming and watches a lot of TV on her HP laptop, so nothing's wasted.
8GB. That's as much as you can stuff in it. Minis are half the price of an iMac, and if you already have a display and input devices, it just makes sense. But it's Q4, and time to start collecting deductions, and Amazon had a killer price on this bad boy, so I decided to make the move now rather than wait.
