I'm not sure, I tend to be sort of feeling around the wheel for those buttons. Sometimes I push the pause button instead of the forward button when I'm on my bike. This might fix that...might. Overall, not that much different. A few weeks ago, this thing was supposed to be a video iPod... yeah, right!

I am going to be going on to my third iPod.... (5gig)
The first one died and I was sent a refurbished replacement. It never really did work properly and was a victim of the dreaded "lack of" battery life disease. It would only play for 45 minutes.

I have since sent it back and have been waiting two months-so far- for it' replacement... It has been hard without my iPod...
I have called Apple several times and there is no word regarding and ETA for my replacement..

Ouch! Now that is a sad tale! They've always been real speedy about getting my replacement to me, but I miss it terribly when its gone, so I know what you mean. Maybe they'll send you one of the new models when they appear.

The iPod is the only Apple product I have been extremely disappointed with. Our original 5 gig has the loss of battery life problem, in the past the thing would completely die (even when plugged in) for days on end, it can no longer charge via the power cable - only the FireWire cable connected to the computer (we have since purchased a car charger since that is the only place she uses the iPod). It's really quite frustrating considering I spent $500 on it.

I've heard that later models are much more reliable - I think I fell victim to a "1.0 release" problem. I'm looking forward to giving the newer iPods a shot, but you can bet I will be buying the AppleCare package with it, if it is available for that product.

Visit Me At My .Mac Site

My original iPod was sweet! It would play for 10 hours, it always worked... I loved it. The refurbished iPod didnt work properly right from the start. I didnt want to be stuck with a lemon so I contactd Apple and they said that I should return it!

A day after it arrived @ Apple I checked the Apple website for the status of the my case number and it said that a replacement had been ordered.

I think there must be a big backlog of 5 gig iPods. I read in the Apple iPod discussions that it took about two months for some poor guy to get the 5 gig iPod he ordered from the Apple store. Maybe I will get mine this month.
I hope...
