I just noticed that doing a search in the "MacTech only search" gives links with https://mactech.com/etc etc.

ex: https://www.mactech.com/firehose

I then get this;



It seems to be related to https as opposed to http.

If I type https://mactech.com/ into a browser it gives the message but not http://mactech.com

Both Safari and Firefox.

What happens if you put in www.mactech.com instead of MacTech.com?

Also anytime it gives me a firehose result it always takes me to the main firehose page only, not the page with the link.

For example "ipad battery life" with quotes gives this as a result https://www.mactech.com/firehose?page=31 but takes me to https://www.mactech.com/firehose as opposed to page 31

It's fine as it's not requesting a secure page, no https.

BTW MacTech.com works too, it's the https that it doesn't like.

So, how did you end up at https? I'm trying to think of what https links at http://www.mactech.com that we would have.

I did a search using "ipad battery life" (quotes) in the "MacTech Only Search" field in the Search box on the MacTech.com page.

Was the search box on the forums? or the main site?

Main site. Also note, like I said above I get different results using the same search box on the forums and the main site.

To clarify, I'm using this search function on both the forums and the main site, the "MacTech Only Search" field;



The main site when searching for "ipad battery life" gives 3 links, one of them with https, but when searching from the forums page using the same Search box and using "ipad battery life" I don't get any link to MacTech, I get 5 pages of links to arstechnica links. It seems the same Search box doesn't access the same database for forums and main site.

I'm at a loss, as I am not seeing the same thing.

Can you post here the URLs that you are at when doing the search? everything I'm seeing is without http

In the Search box, pic below, in the "MacTech Search:" field, type "ipad battery life" using quotes. I get three hits, the third has https.

(Also as an aside I just noticed the clickable question mark goes nowhere. Clicking it just changes the url from http://www.mactech.com/ to http://www.mactech.com/#)



Then go here http://forums.applecentral.com/ and type "ipad battery life" into the "MacTech Only Search:" field, pic below. (Note that this Search box is slightly different from the main site box in the pic above, the word Only is added and there is no question mark.)



8 pages of mainly arstechnica links, no MacTech results, no http or https.

And actually pages 6 7 8 go to page 5, there really is no pages 6 7 or 8.
