My mom called me with a couple problems with her Mac a few minutes ago-- the first of which was solved within a second or two of doing a screenshare.
The second issue pertains to a mysterious Excel icon on her desktop. It can't be opened and it can't be deleted. When I try to get info on it, nothing happens. It can't be moved at all. It's not doing anyone any harm there, but the curiosity is killing me. For her it's obviously much worse.
Anyone with a clue as to what it might be or how to get rid of it?
It took me a while to get my schedule to coincide with my Mom such that she and I could do a screen-share. I just tried to follow your advice and whatdayaknow? I son't see a library icon below the user threshold! When did this happen? Is that new with Lion? It's been so long that I've tinkered with OSX that I can't believe that it's not there. From HD/User/Me-- the only sub folders are Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public and Sites. NO LIBRARY. I swear I used to see it.
I hate to use the terminal, but I'll give it a try...
