Sage advice my father gave me when I was a youth. "That way", he explained, "you'll never have to take anyone else's."
In November, I bought a copy of Quicken Essentials on the Intuit site. Two charges appeared in the pending column of my bank account web page. One was 25 cents over invoice. I spent three days dealing with Intuit's off-shore CSRs via chat and phone, getting nowhere put pissed. They insisted I was only being charged the invoice price, but a few days later the invoice amount disappeared and the overcharge went through. Another call, had to spit blood to get a supervisor with a bad attitude who dismissively told me I'd see a $0.25 credit within a few days.
Never happened, so today I called corp HQ in Mountain View and got Customer Relations on the phone and told them my story. They immediately issued me a $20 credit! All I wanted was my lousy quarter back — or at least a reasonable explanation and a corrected invoice.

I had decided to let it go, but another issue drove me to the support page yesterday where I had yet another hair-pulling encounter with an equally unsatisfying result. So I decided to relight the boiler.

LOL. I've always been happy with Quicken. Been using it since fire was discovered.
Legendary adman Bill Bernbach used once said that nothing will kill a bad product faster than a good ad. My spin: nothing will kill a good product faster than bad customer service.
I'm tenacious a/b this stuff. Just went through an episode w/AT&T a couple of weeks ago, too. Neither the retail store manager, nor any CSR, nor anyone in the warranty dept. could put down the script long enough to offer a solution to an incredibly simple problem. But a brief call to Customer Relations yielded a smart and totally satisfactory result. Sometimes ya just have to push a little harder.

Yeah, I actually considered Quicken briefly for my accounting, but since it is primarily targeted fo rNorth America, I skipped and went with a Swedish software designed for the Nordic/European markets instead. It was a bargain, too, and the developer is mainly a one-man-or-so strike team. AFAIK, most marketing is just via Twitter and the website.
I've noticed that after moving my cell phone and internet connection on the company's name, the customer experience has went up and all the mandatory buy-this-and-buy-that jargon when having to call their service numbers has plummeted. Same actually goes for dealings with insurance company. Customer is crap to poop on, business customer is king.
And that doesn't include all of the posts that are no where near political or about religion that Michael or DLC finds reason to bring up the GOP, TP or whatever in the replies. If I did that half of the posts DLC replies to would be moved.
Cut me some slack, I've only moved one to the box in the last month or two. That's what I get for trying to be a nice guy.
Dude... relax. No one's pointing fingers. I said Oft times.. that means oft ( comes from often)...once in a while. Once in a while a thread gets moved if it turns from the original topic. More so when John was here. I was trying to not say that cuz I don't want John to look in here and take offense, that's not my intention.
I was merely putting a disclaimer out there cuz I was hijacking Steves post with something political that related to the conversation and I didn't want his thread to get moved.
Post # 1 should have been posted in the political forum... but how does that show me being gun shy? Don't get it. Seriously? Someone plz explain this to me. I don't even get #2 thread in which I wasn't even involved. How can you post that as an example of me being gun shy when i wasn't even part of it? Hell..I don't understand how any of these proves that I'm gun shy. Or how my saying THIS ONE TIME that the post may get moved... I don't think this makes me gun shy. Out of all the times people have complained (loudly even) I doubt you can find any threads where I participated in that discussion. If I stepped on a sore toe...sorry.

I know, I try and use some discretion I hope you see. To me it's not a hard line drawn in the sand or it would have been moved. I am the most lenient, I try anyway. I miss the old all-in-one forum too but Neil's rules is his rules so I try to respect that to some degree. #1 mentions both religion and government. "to discuss and debate "soap box" type issues like Politics and Religion." If I wanted to be a dicktator and follow the rules to the tee I would have moved it.
My toes are fine, no argument or hard feelings, just friendly discourse BTW.
You don't have to participate to be gun shy. If the bullets are flying around the hood but one is not involved one can still be gun shy. The moving of posts is mentioned quite often, I understand the jokes about it and don't care, I make them too.
Don't apologize, I don't believe it. You can't change, that's just your MO, and we luv ya' man. It's all a part of what makes this gathering place what it is. There has to be a cranky curmudgeon or two in every bar.
