Once and sometimes twice a week I have to send out up to a dozen press-quality PDFs to newspapers that one of my clients places ads in. And I reduce the file sizes of copies that I send to my media buyer for confirmation. That means using the "Reduce File Size" command a dozen times for each ad. Would love a script that allows me to compress individual files batch-style.
I've seen enterprise-level software that does this for hundreds — even thousands — of PDFs at once. Most are for Windows, and the volume is overkill anyway.
If anyone knows of a script that can do this, please pass it on. TIA.
You can use folder actions and Automator to make a watched folder, kind of like Distiller does for ps files. You can copy the files to the folder and it automatically uses Apple's built in Quartz Filter to compress and move another folder. I think it deletes the file you drag to the watched folder so that's why you want to copy.
