Launch Console, All Messages, Clear Display, try a copy. Any errors popping up in Console?
Repair all HD's, then Safe Boot the machine, Shift key, one of the things it does is run Disk Utility to check the internal drive. Reboot after it starts back up.
Throw away Finder prefs. You'll have to "Go to Folder" in the Finder Go menu, /Users/your user name/Library to get to the now invisible in Lion Library folder. Open the Preferences folder and toss the Finder prefs. Log out and back in.
