The Solstice is nice enough looking but it's no Boxster. I admire your taste. For me, there's a vast no-man's land between the Miata and the Boxster. All the BMW Z3's and Audi TT's don't do anything for me. I'd sooner just have a Miata and use the diff to buy a decent sportbike (Guzzi or Ducati preferred). The Boxster is the next logical stepping stone. Beyond that, it'd be a Ferrari, 60's or 70's vintage, Daytona, 275GTB, 250GT SWB, 330 GTC. Nothing sounds like a twelve-cylinder, 'cept maybe a Benelli Sei with a 6-into-1.

Cute, but so much like the new Mazdas, Civics, Corollas. It's getting difficult to tell them apart (again).

I have a hankering to get another Subaru Impreza WRX/STI sedan. Sold my old one around a year ago, having had it for three years. Incredible performance and handling, and NZ roads are wonderfully curvey. Ahhhh...miss the beast a lot.

Currently driving Hondas, but we'll be replacing one around October. We'll see what happens.

I drive a Jetta, because everyone knows its a Jetta, and the warranty kicks most American car's asses... the pleasure of European engineering at the cost of an American built car... VWs to me are classics... I miss my old '70 beetle almost as much as I miss my '89 yamaha radian.

"The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left."
-- Ecclesiastes 10:2

Maybe that's the point of the quotation.

A good friend of mine drives a 4motion VW Passat (kind of an Audi knock-off) ranch(?) wagon which goes real well. A bit less performance than the WRX but handling is quite similar; very good. Out of my price bracket though.

Heh-heh. Reminds me of my '67 "Squareback". Windows thick with smoke residue, Hand-painted flowers all over it... Hey wait a minute! Flowers? Hey you, Jobs! Yeah you... I wanna talk to you, and so does my lawyer...

#5651 - 04/26/0202:15 AMRe: My car tastes are so whacked--
I have a 2000 Jetta, very happy with it. Previous 2 cars were Golf GTIs. Spent the last 20 years in VWs. I put lots of miles on all of them (200K plus on the GTIs) and no major problems. Those GTIs kicked some butt and handled very well.
