I've been noticing that my wife's monitor - Viewsonic 19" wide screen LCD - looks a bit washed out (not as sharp as mine, same model), so I tried setting the brightness and contrast on it. That resulted in flickering unless both are maxed. I suppose I could try recalibrating it to see what happens. Am I looking at a potential failure in the near future? The display is 4 or 5 years old. I bought it with her Mini. Any thoughts for a replacement in the 19-22 inch range? LED? Cheap but decent?

Maybe I'll get this one for myself and give her my current 19". Is that living dangerously or what? laugh

Of course, I do have to wait for hers to either fail or become unusable.

Calibrated her monitor this AM and it's looking much better. Still flickers if I back the brightness down any from max. It was using the calibration setting that I did just in April, so I'll probably have to recalibrate again in a couple of months if it lasts that long.

Worked out for now. Waiting to see if it (the display) degrades again over time.

My wife isn't real observant at times, so I can slide some things right by her. wink

It will, the capacitors are getting weak in the inverter, low power to the backlight.

Not too often I'd hazard a guess at though. smirk

It's getting close to failing. Sometimes, it won't come on when waking from sleep. I can get her a 20" LED for around $129. Not that I can afford that right now.
