Why do you see generations growing up on welfare?
John Just seen on CNN that 1 in 4 children in the US - are hungry. I have mentioned before that one of my pet peeves was people who donate over seas to those church TV commercials of children without needs in foreign counties <- in the mean time there are children just down their streets who just need the basics of food and clean water. If you don't believe me just take a drive around your city. Of - course those children will not be on your street,, you have to drive into the depressed areas.
Anyway, maybe I am wrong? Welfare is NOT a life long, gig like it used to be to where you can work the system forever. Now you have to enroll into a job training program and be looking for a job. The assistance ends after 18 months.

Hope all is well in Florida Michael, peace.
Private companies and their liability insurance carriers require those tests - those are legal. The government cannot search you or your belongings without probable cause, period.
You know John some people have bad breaks in life even when they strive to support their families regarding the minorities in today's miserable economy.I was on welfare years ago when times were tough but I had to support 2 boys I wasn't proud of it but to survive I did it.

Not to mention that there are a lot of hard working people who qualify for food stamps. I suppose all of them should be drug tested too? They probably are just trading those food stamps for drugs, you know? /sarcasm

Caldwell and his wife, Mitzi, also told reporters anyone on food stamps can let a drug dealer use his card in exchange for illegal narcotics, and no merchant is the wiser.
“Definitely,” Mitzi Caldwell said. “You can take anybody’s card into any grocery store or Go Mart or Wal-Mart, whatever. The only thing it has is your name on it. And they don’t even ask for nothing. You just swipe the card, put in your PIN, and go.”
Her husband added, “As long as you have the PIN number, you can use the card.”
Delegate Tom Louisos, D-Fayette, the lone Democrat co-sponsor of Blair’s bill, has offered a bill of his own requiring that food stamp recipients be issued a card with a photo ID so no trading can occur.

It's still a right-wing knee jerk issue, just like voter fraud is a rampant problem - not.

Jerry, I have no problem with people getting on welfare/public assistance if they truly need it, and a lot do.
I DO have a problem with those that do drugs while on assistance

Steve, I have been down streets/areas that are populated with the poor, both here in Louisville and Washington DC. I have volunteered my time (2 years in DC) working/helping the poor, so you don't have to tell me.

I have been asking Six of One and MacBozo if they would take a drive at night through a public assistance housing area because, you know: people on drugs:

I'm still waiting for any sort of response...

Regardless, the only relevant result from a drug test would be that the subject is under the influence at the time of the test, since its not illegal to have gotten drunk/high last week (say), sober-up and then drive a vehicle.
Man, how did I miss this?
It is VERY much so illegal to get high!
What the drug test would do is let the agency know that this individual has, in the last 30 days, obtained and used illegal drugs.
Now, is this person looking for public assistance in order to buy illegal drugs again OR to use it as it was intended, which is to purchase goods/foods for themselves and their family in order to survive.
