Long read, but worth your time. A couple of key quotes:
Domestically, over the last three decades the rich have systematically expropriated the middle-classís sizable and hard-earned wealth. It has been the most massive transfer of wealth in the nationís history, with the gravest consequences. It has been a period of legalized robbery.
The Tea Party movement expressed the first round of popular rage, reflecting the genuine fears of a segment of the aging, insecure, white (often racist) and conservative Christian populace. It screamed loud and was heard.
However, having been organized and funded by well-financed conservative and Republican operatives, the politicians and legislative solutions it championed are turning out to only make worse the lives of an increasing number of the more vulnerable Tea Party proponents. Tea Party ideology and politics is being exposed as a con job.
Good article. Discouraging for us in that lower income percentile, but good.
Of course the only thing I object to is them having to mention/blame the Tea Party. Put the blame where it belongs. The TP are wackos but things were in the crapper without them years ago thanks to both parties, don't blame the economy on the actions of the TP over the last couple of years. We've taken a long time to get here and both sides are to blame. The economy its back on us common people even during the Clinton administration according to the figures the article posted so it's not just one party.
Hmm, TP and crapper go together.
A friend of mine proudly calls herself part of the latest designer group, a "Progressive." I don't have the time to go into detail now, but you talk about a bunch of rich nose in the air so and so's. I have heard the comments at parties about those that are not as well off as them, people like you and me. They look down on anyone not of their social status. I don't know if all are like that but the circle she runs with are not my or your type of people. Snobbery is not party specific I've found.
I think there's snobbery on both sides. I've never met a progressive like her, but then that BS is usually instilled into them as they grow up. aka "You're better than everyone else. Your feces smells like roses !"
However which is worse- her blatant (but open and honest) action, or people who claim to be on your side but stab you in the back when it's convenient. That's most of the GOP IMHO. Some Dems do too, but it doesn't seem as rampant there.
