Last nite when I got home, I selected the the drive in disk utility and and hit erase, after 15 minutes of doing nothing I shut it off.
I will check tonight when I get home the SMART status thing. The local Apple retailer has been around forever and it is going to cost 190 out the door for a new drive installed and they can have it done that day.

LOL yeah, I watched a youtube vid, there are like 30 screws to remove!!
They also told me TM works beautifully. The one question I had was, will TM bring in all the updates and put on 10.6.7 for the OS and of course all the others Safari, iTunes ect, to there current version?
Yes it will. I have heard where some people have to do it twice but that's rare. I've always had good luck with it.
After restoring, as soon as you reboot off of the hard drive repair permissions first before launching any apps.
When you launch Mail, and maybe iPhoto and iTunes, it will act like a new install but just say "Okay" and let it rebuild your databases, all of your mail, photos, and tunes will still be there.
