Having some problems with the internal Pioneer DVR-KO6. Burning a CD is futile - fails verify and is unreadable (appears to write/burn up to that point). Reading a CD is iffy at best. It seems to be heat related, because it works just fine (the last time I even tried) before the Mini warms up (right after wake or boot). Also, can optical media go bad? My external CD burner - old Que QPS CD-R PX-1610A - mounts and reads previously burned CDs, but not a blank CD.

Which model of mini, I forget.
2.0 GHz Core2Duo.
Came home today and did the DW 4.3 update after the machine had been asleep for about 20 hours. At first, it would error about halfway through reading the original DW CD, I shot some compressed air through the slot a couple of times, and the update went OK and burned me a new DW disc. Maybe it had some dust bunnies in it due to lack of use. I'll try some Finder burns when I get the time. Company coming tomorrow and I'm working all day.

I only burn CD/DVD when my father-in-law is here each year (and the CD update to DW). He sends promo CDs to the sponsors of his outdoor summer concert series. I usually just email files or upload them to MobileMe for distribution.
