A couple months ago I bought my first Toshiba 26" 720 flat panel TV.
Been very disappointed with quality of SD Dish network satellite reception.
HD is more than I want to pay. I don't even want to pay for SD, much less HD.
Today I gave myself a present and bought a new Apple TV.
That, with Netflix streaming, Curtis is very, very happy.
Tomorrow, after the playoffs, I cancel my Dish subscription.
Something I've been wanting to do for years.
So far, I'm very impressed.

Cool beans.
You may want to consider a HD antenna.
Aha.. I see you were already involved in at least 1 post in here about that.

Don't forget...

On a side note... my brother recently bought a tv that came with about 30 FREE streaming options... all kinds of cool stuff. Youtube, Netflix, sports, racing, etc.
I believe it was a Mitsubishi.

The first thing I did when I bought the flat panel was buy a antennae.
Unfortunately, I live in a valley, and Radio Shack was right. Reception was terrible.
Returned it the next day.
Sports is about the only thing I might miss, but that's what neighbors are for!
wink

Netflix is the bomb. (Whatever that means. Is that term PC correct these days?)

WHATEVER! Tonight I'm happy. Apple ease of use came through once again.

You might want to check out XBMC for AppleTV

LOL

At first I thought you bought a (All Terrane Vehicle) ATV. laugh
Which my first recommendation would be to buy a Helmet.

Anyway
Have fun with the flat panel and don't knock yourself out over it laugh

I just bought an ATV and I'm already thinking about selling it. I want to listen to iTunes and movies over my stereo which is hooked up through my cable box. But the ATV has no audio out other that optical audio which means my 2 year old AV reciever is useless because it doesn't have HDMI or optical audio just RCA in/out. I really don't want to buy another reciever. I currently use a MBP laptop that is doing everything the ATV can do and more but I thought I'd get the ATV to free up the laptop. But now I gotta invest in all kinds of extras to get the full potential of the ATV. Sometimes I frickin hate new technology!

You'll need one of these. Toslink to analog converter.

You should already have the toslink cable to go to the converter, it came with the ATV.

HTH smile

Much better solution than buying a new reciever. Thanks Reboot! I just ordered it.
