Well thats hard to say - I mean think about it.
We have here a rail projects that has been contested for over 10 years -cost about 5 billion. Most of which is Federal money.
1 - The project will bring in thousands of jobs. 1) - Yes and No - once the project is over there will be thousands out of work.
2 - Efficient means of mass transportation. 2) - Yes and No - people will still need to get to the stations via Bussing. So yes it maybe more (green) the pollution still exist when getting people there to use it.
3 - Will this create more jobs. 3) - Yes and No , certainly more jobs for the needed people who would be needed to run the rail line. <-- thats about it. Will it create more jobs in the private sector <- certainly not.
So Christie is not a bad guy , just a guy with many questions. a) Do I wanna take this cash and have a thousand construction workers come and go ?
b) Do I take this cash and invest it into a thousand jobs that will last forever ? ?
carp, you're looking at this as though transportation is static, like a building. Think of it as a conduit ~ Once the rail / tunnel / highway is built, the constructions crews move on. They don't just fall over instantly unemployed. And the conduit ~ rail / tunnel / highway ~ will help people move easier from point A to point B. Motion is economic lotion.

Steve, Think of this . . our interstate highway system built in the 50's . Those construction jobs are long gone, BUT there are now 1000s of trucking jobs, and hotels, and restaurants, that might not exist without that HYW system. the tunnel is just the TIP of the economic Iceberg, man !!
Not to mention the environmental or safety impact if NYC needed to be evacuated. Christie is an idiot ! . . can't think outside a paper bag, not to mention "the Box".

Dave Ya Big Guy - just missing the point.
We are not building anything New. Rather just repairing what is there. Simply just hiring , maybe a few, but keep the jobs of the many that are already working.
Now if they wanna build a bridge to Hawaii - now ya talking about hirings thousands - but this re-pair shiit goes No - Where
